Chick-fil-a and Shampoo (sounds good to me)
Well everyone, your favorite blog writer is back. Remember to like and share with your friends, all the fun and quirky adventures of South Tampa, Florida
Twas one good ol week! Started out with a dinner with the Guerrero Family! OHMYHECK, THEY'RE LITERALLY THE BEST!! We always have amazing spiritual discussions with them! Then we had a good ol lesson with the Sillito Family! Sister Sillito really wants her patriarchal blessing, so we're going to get her connected with Bishop!!
Tuesday, Elder Memmott had a Bean-Boozled Barrage, and the entire district had to take one (These jelly beans have been sitting, melting together, in our apartment, for 4 months now, they make you gag when you open them, this is why they told us to use our hands and waft the smell in science class) and had an AMAZING lesson with Bro Hodson and Ingrid. Both are struggling in their beliefs, but the spirit was present and tangible, allowing both to come to a lot of conclusions and answers to their doubts and questions!
Wednesday we had service with the Freestone family! I LOVE THE SUN. HERE COMES THE SUN, DO DO DO DO (You'll just have to sing the jingle) and Sis Freestone bought us... wait for it... CHICK-FIL-A AFTERWARDS!!! YEEEHAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!!! Then we met Tony! He's an older fella, but he loves the missionaries, and just keeps talking about how they're kind, and generous. Love seeing the impact people can make, even from small acts of service! We're going to keep talking to him and help him progress in the Gospel.
We had a ton of lessons fall through the rest of the week, but we did have INTERVIEWS!! President and I talked about how to handle situations and be more of a leader. He told me, that if you fall off the horse, GET BACK ON!! Don't turn around from the opportunity to learn! And we had service at Metropolitan ministries the entire afternoon. Let me tell ya, sorting shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand lotion, is THRILLING, puts you on the edge of your seat, always wondering what the next bottle will be! But was super fun to get out and we did it with the Tampa Spanish Elders.
On good ol Saturday, we had a social media zone conference, where President Elton (Mission Presidency) told us about the impact social media can have, but asked, why, as missionaries, are we afraid to take a step into the dark. To try something new, to extend invitations to EVERYONE to be involved!! As it progresses, in the future, it can and will quadruple finding efforts in the mission! We also had a ward activity!! Super awesome to get to meet the ward in person! Just a little chick-fil-a drive through activity (everyone stopped and talked though, people were just happy to see everyone)
On Sunday we had an amazing lesson with the Hatchers. It was only Brother Hatcher, but he talked about how he wants his kids to be introduced to the Gospel!! And he wants to go to the TEMPLE WHEN IT OPENS UP!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAYAYA! (If you cannot tell, I am excited)
There are miracles everyday in missionary work. There are miracles everyday of our lives, but it does depend on our perspective and our attitude towards God. 1 nephi 1:20 talks about the tender mercies that are over the children of men, according to their faith. Ether 12:12 and 12:18, explain the importance of faith when miracles are worked. We can receive blessings through faith, even going through our lives, living in the first mile, but to see miracles, to experience the true joy of the Gospel, requires us to run into the second mile, where we experience all that God has to offer. We take a step into the darkness, leaning entirely on God's strength, allowing him to develop us and strengthen us, and then miracles are wrought!
James 1:22 invites us to be doers of the word! Russel M Nelson's invitation is to do all you can to increase your capacity to receive divine revelation! Those go hand in hand, and the blueprint to increasing our spiritual capabilities is found in Alma 17:2-3, fasting, prayer and diligent pondering, and contemplation of the scriptures! I promise as we do these things, we will take the step into the second mile, and be able to recognize God's love for us, even greater than before!
