first week in argentina ladies and gentlemen, and oh my heck
Well, it begins fellas. Said bye to Sam, and that was a rough time, gotta say. But we got on our flights, and took off. Also, gotta say, the airplane food, was the first good meal I had had in 6 weeks. Memorized Alma 11:39 on the way to Peru, and from Peru to Argentina, I slept the whole way.
Then it started to get real. Said bye to the hermanas from our district, Blatter and Cottrell, in the airport. But then gave the biggest hug to ZIGGY!!! Good to see a familiar face. I love the president, and my companion is Elder Garcia, from Peru. I'm his last transfer so I have to make it good! My spanish ain't half bad, and he's a zone leader. So I have to learn the area fast, so I can do comp exchanges right away. Beyond excited for the challenge. Memorized 3rd Nephi 12:16, be a light for everyone!!!
So, first day in the campo ladies and gentlemen... I LOVE IT!! Elder Moody is in my zone! My pension is nice (I got lucky with that one) and my trainer is absolutely amazing, and a way hard worker. The zone leaders (my companion and someone else) had me do a grita on the train, so I shared with the train Alma 26:37 (my scripture of the day) and the love of God. I talked to a couple, no references, but it was fun to use my Spanish. My favorite part was having a prompting to talk to a house, and we got a really receptive mom who is catholic! and an older investigator likes me a lot, Javier, I don't know why, but he's hilarious! And I am now best friends with 2 little member girls! Everyone, MISSIONARY WORK IS REAL, AND THE BEST!!
Well, all the kids use Vos, so I definitely need to learn how to use that, lol. We had a way good reference for 2 brothers, that seem way interested, and I love it here, because all the kids love me, because of my blonde hair and because my Spanish isn't great, so they practice English with me, lol. It's so fun to be here, Argentina is freaking amazing. At night we told scary stories and then we missed the bus, so I was kinda freaked out. Memorized Phillipians 4:13 in Spanish today. “Todo lo pudeo en Cristo que me fortalece :)”
Finally experienced a hard missionary day (lol, 3rd day). We did a comp exchange and since I'm companions with a zone leader, and my new companion spoke zero English and is from Chile. I had some solid conversation though, but I cannot understand anything natives say. Mostly did contacting today, and only got 2 new interests, but might get a family to come to general conference! Mostly just rain and mud though. Memorized DC 6:36 in spanish, and it's a quality mission slogan right there.
General conference ladies and gentlemen, is the best. Actually didn't get tired and fall asleep here, I LOVE IT! But first off, if I haven't said this already, MY COMPANION RUNS IN THE MORNING!! SO LIFE IS HECKING GOOD! Made me some pb and nutella sandwiches for some meal every day, and at general conference, I talked with Elder Moody, and Elder Oldham. And Elder Rose, (other missionary in my ward) because he wants someone to talk to in English, lol. Fun to hear missionaries farther in forget English words. General conference was in English, so life was hecking good, lol. And at night, we talked to a member, and my understanding is already way better, still awful, but improving. Memorized 2 Nephi 9:23! Argentina IS FLIPPING THE BEST!
Well, Sunday smacked me in the face. I just felt drained, trying to translate, so my speaking and understanding was just bad. But good news, we got our first baptismal date in the area! Good ol' Florencia, but Alejandro, even though he came to general conference, said it's complicated. I wish I could help more. Just gotta up the ante on studying. Memorized John 3:16. Bring it on mission, general conference has me pumped and ready to go!!!
