Week 5
So, started out the week a-okay. Gilmore got his haircut to fix the bowl, and then we played b-ball for like an hour, I'm doing my best to sauce on people. And then... WE PLAYED ULTIMATE FRISBEE!!! Man that was fun, and I would say I was defensive MVP. My district beat Sam's, so we're the alpha district. Read a bunch of saints for study time, and the revelation to Heber Kimball, during the persecution of the saints in Missouri, touched me, "Remember that I'm always with you, even to the end. My spirit shall be in your heart to teach you the peaceable things of the kingdom." Then we went outside and talked while watching the lightning and rain storm. I love the rain.
Memorized Mosiah 7:33, and it was revelation, cool to see the different ways God answers our prayers.
So, the 19th is a day of tragedy in Mexico because of the huge earthquake. So we had an earthquake drill, and then sang the Mexican national anthem, but 90% of the CCM is Americans, so we absolutely butchered it. I felt awful, I didn't make things much better by being me and randomly yelling a word here and there in the song.
During class, the spirit was powerful, when God helped us receive revelation for our teacher, Hermano Alarcon, who is struggling trying to help his friend accept the gospel. I shared Alma 37:37, good stuff. Me and Abbott got to facetime Hermano Hernadez's girlfriend. She likes t-swift and saw IT 2, so I'd say we're pretty tight friends, lol. Found out the goat meat gave like half the CCM parasites (don't worry, I'm a-okay, I didn't eat that nasty crap) so I may go vegan to avoid the meat the rest of the CCM, lol.
Memorized Mosiah 14:5, "BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED!!" So, Alarcon (our teacher) ate lunch with us this week, and he told me he likes how I'm always happy and optimistic, so I'm definitely gonna keep that attitude 100% of the time! He then said I look like I could be a troublemaker before I came, so I told him about mine and Sam's banana story, he laughed so hard at that. (edition by Laurel – you can ask me about the banana story if you haven’t heard it) In the afternoon, with Hernandez, we had a way cool BOM share, where we replaced the word angels in certain scriptures with missionaries. Changed my perspective of my purpose. I'm here to be an angel, or a miracle for someone else, through the power of God. Way cool perspective.
This is for the Rebers, I MET RACHEL RICHARDS! Her and her companion were just like, hey do you guys know an Elder Bennett, and would ya look at that, I'm Elder Bennett.
And Ether 11:8 fellas, we're still cranking out the scriptures. So I feel way better about my Spanish. We had natives come and talk to us (not our teachers) and I had full conversations and could understand and translate. Problem is they don't have an Argentine Accent, uh oh. That's gonna be rough. BUT ONLY ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL ARGENTINA!
I have also now decided to go vegan the rest of the MTC, because the meat has not been great taste wise, or health wise lately. On Saturday night, Klingbiel was way sick, so we had like the whole house help give a blessing. Elder Bullough gave it, and that was powerful. The spirit was tangible! Glad I have people in my house who I can look to for examples!
Well, I finally conceded defeat and started to take diarrhea pills that Abbott has. The vegetarian diet has definitely helped the stomach though. Gonna stick with it for a while. Had the absolute strangest devotional on Sunday. President Garcia (who sounds like nacho libre) just talked about marriage again. I missed like 20 minutes of it, because Abbott, my comp, disappeared so me and Pederson explored the whole mtc looking for him. Turns out he had walked into the devotional right after we left, lol. Memorized 1 Nephi 3:7, there is always a way through God!
So, Monday, when we got our flight plans, everyone was depressed. We found out Neoquen leaves 6 hours earlier on their bus then the guys going to Buenos Aires, South. So pretty much, the mtc will finish off by making me say goodbye to Sam. Thank you CCm :( but the rest of the day was good. I'm feeling really good about where my Spanish has come in 6 weeks (I AM NOT FLUENT) but I have confidence. At the end of the day, we practiced a musical number, and all the guys were messing around, dancing and we changed a line to "A SPICY RED TACO" from "a marked generation." I don't know why, but I was almost in tears laughing. Finished Saints (EVERYONE GO READ) and memorized 3rd Nephi 5:13.
Got to practice piano though since I'm playing for the Sunday devotional. Tuesday devo was good, it was a Mexico Area President, he talked about having joy in our missions through our missionary purpose and shared Alma 27:17! Finished the week of by memorizing Romans 1:16. WE HEAD OUT OF THE CCM AT 4:30 PM ON MONDAY FELLAS! ARGENTIINA, HERE I COME!!
